Hi, my name is Haayls. I'm a dorky guy who either can't think of anything to say or can't shut up.

Among the things I enjoy that are art-related, I enjoy drawing, writing, colouring, and making cosplays. I also love to travel and take pictures of things I see along the way.
I'm a university student with an associates degree in art who will be studying for a bachelors degree at the start of fall 2015.

There was a tropical storm a couple weeks back and it flooded the basement apartment where Brenda and I live. My tablet, among other things, got water damage. It wouldn't turn on at first when I plugged it in so I thought it was done for. I ordered a used one off eBay for about $40 but a few days later, my old tablet (the one with the water damage) started working again. I guess it just needed time to dry out. Makes me feel a little bit better that my possessions where salvageable. A lot of my plushies and stuffed animals got wet too and smelled moldy but I used Pine Sol and dried them in the sun to kill any mold. Worked well but I digress. Now I have two tablets in case shit happens again. My sister and I have been trying to clean our place while we stay at our dad's but he's been giving us a lot of chores to do on top of everything. He seems to have forgotten that we have our own work to do. Our own lives to live.

Anyway, seguing into my second topic, I was bitching about all of this to my bro and they suggested I come for a visit to get away from the stress. It sounded like a good idea but I knew abandoning my work by going to Canada wasn't going to get anything done. So in theory it sounded nice and I appreciated the sentiment but I was in no position at the time to bail. It wasn't until the topic came up again later when I had gotten more done and I was feeling more accomplished that I figured I would follow through. I figured that would be my initiative to see what I could finish before going on the trip. I didn't want to leave a dirty wreck behind for weeks so if I could make it look presentable before I left, vacationing to Canada for a couple weeks to see my bro in the flesh once more would be my reward for it. I mean, I'm going whether I get the stuff done or not (even though I'm getting close) because I already bought my plane ticket and put in a request for foreign currency exchange at the bank. I'll be departing on July 17th and will be returning on August 4th. I'll have internet access up there so I won't be absent from here.

That being said, I won't be going to SoyCon this year and definitely won't be going on vacation with dad but that's okay. There's always next year. It's not every day you get to visit one of your closest internet friends for a little over two weeks. Plus this will be my first time being out of the country. That's exciting.

In other news, only five more days until I turn 22. I still don't have anything particular planned out but Kathryn will be in town. Dad says we might take the boat either to Port Edward or The Broken Oar. I made plans with Hunter to see some fireworks this weekend. Originally, I wanted to shoot for some July 3rd fireworks because Cheryl was considering paying me $80 to do a chore for her at Turner Camp on July 4th but now I think she might have changed her mind. It's kind of a shame because I could really use the money but on the bright side, at least I won't have to work the night before my birthday. I can just take it easy. If that is the case, I might just change plans and tell Hunter that we can go to a fireworks display on July 4th instead of the 3rd.
My birthday is July 5th, so it's in exactly a month from today. Not sure what else I think about that. 22 isn't much of a mile-marker as far as birthdays. When you turn 21, you can drink legally. What can you really do when you're 22? I guess just mark time until you're forcibly taken off your parents health insurance. 4 more years, guys. That's pretty scary. I don't know yet what I'll be doing on my birthday. It's already been established that I won't be going to Anime Midwest this year. For the 4th of July, I'll probably be doing a chore for Cheryl at Turner Camp. It's fine because I'll get paid $80 to work for only a few hours but as far as the actual birthday, I have nothing really planned at all.

Dad says we'll probably go on vacation the week of July 20th but we don't know where to yet. I told him I liked Yellowstone but he said that was too far to go for just one week. I guess Cape Cod is always an option. We went last summer but it's nice out there.

I went to the UIC orientation, all in all, it kinda sucked. It was hot, there was a lot of walking, the meal that the $75 had supposedly gone to was mediocre not to mention we were crunched for time and only had 15 minutes to go in the lunch line and sit down to eat. I got really discouraged when my adviser told me that I basically applied to the wrong college for what I wanted to get into. I'm applied to UIC's college of liberal arts and sciences but apparently, I need to be applied to their college of design instead. The whole thing was just very confusing. I walked out of the office feeling like shit but I felt a little bit better when I talked to some of the other transfer students who were in my group while touring the campus because they said they felt the exact same way. The only nice thing about it was getting to talk to some of the future transfer students, our orientation guide was really cool, and I found out the rec centre is free for students. I'm totally going to take advantage of the opportunity and work out more.

So yeah, that's that. I can't think of much else to say at the moment.

ACen and just hanging out with my bro in general went great! I picked them up from the airport the Monday before the convention and we hung out and played Radiata Stories for the most part. We also tried to watch some of Fifty Shades of Grey just for shits 'n' giggles. The file only played until up to a certain part of the film. It worked out because by that time, we had realised we had seen enough. We also Street Passed many times and got to play Four Swords on our 3DSes. Overall, it was just so amazing getting to see them and hug them irl. Holy hellfire, they give the best hugs in the world, I stg. I definitely wanna do it again soon. I have a passport now so maybe one of these days, if the circumstances are right, I can go up to visit them. I know my friend Hunter had talked about his plans to one day move up to Canada after he graduated but I don't know if that's still on his bucket list or if he's had a change of mind. Either way, it would be nice if he and I could one day move up there and live with my bro. I'm planning on hanging out with Hunter this weekend so maybe we can talk about it then.

In other news and upcoming happenings, I've got an orientation at UIC this Wednesday that's required and I understand that, but I don't quite understand why I need to pay $75 per person for it, which is why I'm not bringing anyone with me. I know they said they'll be providing a meal for each person who pays to attend but I can't imagine what a $75 meal offered by a college must be like. Oh well. But Wednesday morning, I'll take the L down to UIC. The experience of commuting to UIC for the first time might be helpful. I'll be starting at UIC at the end of August and I'll be going for a bachelors in computer science. Wish me luck on that. :'D

I don't think I'll be going to Anime Midwest this year. I just don't feel like spending the money. In any case, Sunday morning isn't exactly the best day of a convention to celebrate your birthday, I don't think. SoyCon I plan to attend and Ramencon is still a maybe. As for summer vacation, we're still figuring that out. Dad discussed when a good time to go might be but I don't think we talked about a location. I should tell him about me getting my passport and maybe convince him to take us on a trip out of the country. If not overseas then maybe just Canada. It would be cool if we could go to the west end of Ontario and I could bother Robby. On the other hand, if we end up going to the east end, I could bother Neri and Dyl. :U

Anyway, lots of things are up in the air.

Speaking of which, I was playing Radiata Stories about a week ago and I was fighting Zane. Since his damage when he casts his volty is higher than my HP, I always run away like a coward when I see him charging it up.

I've been well. I was planning on going to a cosplay gathering this summer but I won't be able to go after all because I'll be visiting my bro in Canada which is even more fun. How about you?

I wrote you a song just so I could contribute to the fan club, yerosenpai.deviantart.com/art/…
There shouldn't be any copy right issues with this piece, so will you put it up Haayls?

Not much. Currently studying in Montreal for the semester. How have you been?

I also just recently figured out how to get back on this account, which I have not used for years.
