I heard so many "eh?"s.
I've actually been back for a couple weeks now but I've been too distracted to give a full update. I had a lovely time. It was nice to get to meet my bro's family and coworkers but most of all, it was just nice to spend time with my bro and just be there in the same room with them. We played Ark of Napishtim all the way through, some of Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, and some of Mana Khemia. Along with that we also watch The Full Monty, Princess Bride, Ratatouille, Moulin Rouge, Mirai Nikki, and the first episode of Deadman Wonderland... so basically we were total couch potatoes.
Of course, we did more than just that. One of the weekends, we went out to the camp on Sandstone Lake for a night and we got to canoe around the lake. We also stopped at Kakabeka Falls on the way to the camp and got some lovely pictures (as you can see in the gallery). I also got to hike a little bit in the foresty area in their mom's backyard. On days that bro was working, I would walk over about midday and hang around, even when there was nothing for me to do, and then either walk home or ride the bus with them.
It was a sad flight back to Chicago, but hopefully I can visit again for winter break. I don't know if Porter will have any offers on discounted flights for that time frame like they did for summer and fall but I guess I could maybe wait. They might not since that's a big travel time; the prices might even go up. Lots of people flying places to see family for Christmas and such.
Other than that, I don't really have that much more to look forward to. I'm starting at UIC in a week and suffice it to say, I'm not thrilled. It's not that I won't like the professors; most of them seem to have pretty good ratings. I'm just worried the work will be too much. I've got two sociology classes, a psychology, and an art history. Oh well. At least it's not science classes. On the brighter side, I'm told that ACen will be held May 20-22 in 2016 which will be well after classes let out if I'm still at UIC in the spring. If I don't still have a job by then or have a job that will give me the time off, and if my bro wants to come visit again, we might (hopefully) have WiFi by then and probably have the basement better cleaned up as well. It's not dirty anymore like it was after the flood; it's just messy. We've got loads of boxes and no place to put them and we really need a proper dresser. The little plastic drawer I have isn't enough to fit my clothes.
