This isn't directed at anyone in particular. I had just been meaning to make this stamp for a while now. However, this has happened to me before. And again, if you're the type that wants all the watchers you can get, I won't flame you if you don't flame me, okay? Okay.
How many times have you gotten these people who are obviously new to DA and either a.) don't realise that Watching someone isn't like friending someone on Facebook or whatever or b.) they just want more watchers to comment on their work. Not that I blame them. It can be really irritating when you're gallery is dry as a desert and your inbox is collecting dust. But if you don't have a lot of people faving and commenting, you have to work for your popularity. I did. And submitting your work to a club can really boost the amount of faves and comments you get. Example: After I started submitting my art to the , there was a big boom of faves and comments that started popping up in my inbox. Just today, I had 63 Messages and I had only just checked my messages the day before, so they weren't roll-over messages from other days or anything. You'd be surprised at how much attention your deviations will get if you submit to groups. And there are groups for almost anything out there.
But that's just half of it. I remember one time someone whose name I won't say to respect their privacy and because I can't remember what their name was added me to their watch probably thinking I would add them back. I used to do that when I was new to DA. When someone would add me, I'd add them just to be nice. However, I've learned my lesson after having a flooded inbox of art and journals that I didn't even like. Anyway, this person asks me to watch them and they don't have all that much art in their gallery, and their art just wasn't appealing to me. So, after they asked, I told them no. Then they started getting angry going "PLEASE watch me!" with their mood set as angry. Which kind of annoys me because who were they to twist my arm and badger me into watching them? I watch whoever the hell I want. So, I told them that they should submit their art to a club so it would get more attention. I told them I wouldn't watch them because I wasn't interested in their art and then I think I remember them asking if I'd watch them if they improved their art. I told them 'maybe' just to shut them up.
i agree i just feel bad when people watch me and i don't watch them... then i get guilty and then watch them... i do want to become more well know on DA but not for fame and all of that i just want more people to be able to enjoy meh art... that's all... i try submit my art to some groups and that's how i ended up getting more watchers than my friend that has been on here longer than i have... then she was all shocked... lol... though no one has ever asked me to watch them but i've seen people complain about it ALL the time...
ya that's what i'm tryin to do right now! 42 watchers at the moment trying to get that number to fifty right now... though no one has watched me in a while...
I remember back when I first joined DA messages in my inbox would read "[insert name here] has added you to their friendslist" instead of devWatch. Now that was really confusing.
Wow, so that must've been back when DA was just a newborn website. You make me sound like such a newbie. ^^ When I got here back in 2006 or so, I don't really remember what the site was like since I barely logged on, but I'm pretty sure it was called "watch" then.
Yeah, it was called "Friends" until I think about mid-2004 I think it was? It was right when they launched the next version of the website. I remember I would watch people who watched me out if kindness too. Come to think of it, I think *pu-sama was the first person I watched without expecting a watch-back. ^.^;
I remember when you couldn't see thumbnails in your messages unless you were subscribed. I also remember avatars being disabled for the first week or so I was active on DA (despite having this account since July 2003, I didn't actually start using it until like October 2003). I also remember DDs would show up in a side panel and after you 'd something a page would pop up giving you recommendations of similar art at which to look.

Damn, I feel really old right now.
